05/11/16 - There are various models of composting toilets on the market, none of which I wanted in my new house. I did not want a self-contained model that had a drawer. (Our son in particular asked the question right up front, “Dad, is this thing going to have a ‘poop’ drawer?”) I did not want one with a giant hole where small items or children could disappear into the abyss. I did not want plastic. I did not want a foot flush. I wanted something that looks like a toilet, that is porcelain, and that visitors would not need a 30 minute lecture on how to use it. Fortunately, there is such a thing! It is made by SeaLand and it looks a lot like a “regular” toilet. It probably could be found on some big fancy yacht because it is a little on the pricey side as far as toilets are concerned but I was not backing down on this one. I might sound like a spoiled brat but I was trying to look at it through the eyes of future guests. Hopefully, this won’t be too scary for the less daring (me included?)!
