DescriptionThe SoNoMa Lofts project consists of two buildings, book ending a 75' x 140' downtown site, creating a secure landscaped auto-court in the center. The building at the east end of the site, a 1940s warehouse that was converted to inexpensive apartments in the 1980s, will be remodeled into 8 loft style condominiums. The west building is new and contains 4 loft style apartments and a stair tower in the central court. Both buildings feature many “green” building strategies, including; energy efficient heating and cooling and abundant natural light and ventilation.
Other features of the complex include; secured parking and entry, and close proximity to the heart of downtown Billings. Bringing quality, cost-effective housing options to the Southside renews the life and interest of this area for both current and prospective residents of Billings. This project is part of the on-going revitalization of the Southside which includes several other projects designed by our office; the Maverick Fire Station, the L&L Building, the Northern Plains Resource Council offices, and One South Broadway.
At the beginning of 2013, SoNoMa Lofts changed ownership and anticipates embarking on a new remodel and expansion project.
