Ed Gulick is a Vice President at High Plains Architects, where he has played an instrumental role in the firm’s regional leadership in high-performance green building. Ed’s key projects include Home on the Range (offices for the Northern Plains Resource Council), Swift Building Lofts, NOLS Wyss Wilderness Medicine Campus, the SxS Building, and Bighorn Valley Health Center-Hardin.

Committed to improving his community and making a lasting positive impact, Ed is highly involved with civic engagement. He has given numerous green building presentations to regional civic groups and co-taught Urban Ecology, a course offered at Montana State University-Billings. Ed has a passion for making Billings a healthier, more inviting, and more sustainable community through his involvement with the Billings Bicycle + Pedestrian Advisory Committee and Northern Plains Resource Council, a grassroots conservation and family agriculture organization.

Before joining High Plains in 2004, Ed managed the Green Resource Center in the San Francisco Bay Area, providing technical assistance to developers and educating the general public on the economic, community, and environmental benefits of green building. In addition to his dedication to environmental sustainability, Ed is passionate about creating human-scaled places that people love to inhabit. Throughout his career, he has also developed expertise in historic preservation and the adaptive reuse of existing buildings. Three of the buildings were Certified Historic Tax Credit projects, and 12 of his projects received LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Platinum certification from the U.S. Green Building Council for their exemplary green building performance.

Ed is a licensed architect and a LEED® Accredited Professional with a Building Design & Construction specialty. He was a recipient of the Billings 40 Under 40 Award in 2010. Ed earned his Bachelor of Arts from Pomona College and Master of Architecture from Yale University.

In his spare time, Ed enjoys renovating his 1920 Craftsman house. And when his wanderlust gets the better of him, he explores historic districts and wild landscapes on foot or by bike.
